New York Marathon for Bekoji

About the project

The New York´s marathon always brings me good memories. I made my debut in this distance precisely in New York and I did my best.

After a hard struggle with the kenyan Emmanuel Mutai, I achieved the victory in this prestigious race, one of the six marathons considered as "Major" and one of the most important marathons in the world.

The following year I returned to New York and again, I made a great race. This time I was fourth obtaining my best-approved mark in 2h:08:00, since in Boston in the spring of the same year, I completed it in 2h:04:53 as my personal best ever.

Now, after three years, I return to New York so hopefully. But also with doubts since my physical conditions are far from being the best. But my motivation is big enough because I want to give support to the project Town of Runners and all my compatriots of Bekoji's area. I know the needs are many there but without a doubt the young athletes of Bekoji with Sentayehu Eshetu training them, are a real example of commitment, effort and determination for all of us.

For all these reasons, this year I will run for Bekoji the NY´s marathon.  I encourage all of you to the extent possible, to support this nice project.
